I stumbled onto Ms. Evans' excerpt after a friend mentioned how much she loved it. Upon finishing it myself all I can say is WOW!! This fast paced excerpt had my pulse racing and left me hungry for more! This is the kind of book I would buy and read over and over again! This book needs to be published and I will stand in line to buy my copy when it does. I only wish six stars were an option for a review. This excerpt is FANTASTIC!!!

This story had my attention from the very beginning. It jumps right into the action and provides just the right amount of detail to keep you wanting more! I sincerely hope I get the opportunity to read the rest of this story as I wasn't ready to be done!

I've been reading several excerpts, skimming and trying to find a story that made my eyes stutter.
KEEPER did it. I read the excerpt last night and I've been thinking about this story all day.

I liked Taylee, the main character, from the get go. She's the kind of teen I'd have loved to have been (Yes, Im not a teen anymore but still love to read YA). She's realistic and then has this power she knows is big, but is still a typical teenager with a bit of a potty mouth, still gets scared and all that stuff that makes her believable.

The writer of KEEPER has a natural style and her dialogue skills are awesome. The end of chapter one came too quick and I wanted to read further to see if Delmari defeater the pyro guy or what was going to happen. Chapter two set the seen for what was going to happen and even though I only knew a little about Delmari, I was devasted he'd been killed. I LOVE it when a writer can pull a reader in that quickly. I cant wait to read the rest of this story.
Good luck, I hope you win!

"Keeper" by Tiffany Evans is what I would consider a MUST READ! The author has done an excellent job with character development. Taylee is the "normal" teenage girl on the outside, with her attitudes about cute guys and snooty girls, but she's all Drea inside. The first two chapters of this story are exciting and move very fast due to enormous tension from page one with the introduction of her and what she did to another girl at school, and then runs like a freight train for the rest of the first, and all the way through the second chapter. I'm left hanging now and I can't wait to read the rest of this story!

Taylee, senior in high school, is a Drea - a person with the ability to work with the mind, in her case, she has the ability to control the minds of others. She can't say no to a challenge to save her life.

Delmari, a Kember - a person with physical ability, he has the ability of water. He is Taylee's protector, or guardian. Even though not blood related to Taylee, he stepped up and took over care of her when she was 3 months old and her mother (also a Drea) died and her father (a normal human) took off. He has worked with her all this time to bring her ability under control.

Another Kember (with the power of fire) comes to Taylee's house. Delmari fights the man, giving Taylee the time she needs to escape. He's trained her to escape and survive, using drills and specific instructions on what to do in an emergency such as this. She makes her way to the cabin, not far away, grabs the cash Delmari has left there for her and leaves in the car he's provided, and heads for the Authority building in Boise, Idaho.

She makes it to the Authority only to find out that her only real family, Delmari, is dead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, March 30, 2011

I read multiple excerpts looking for the one that'd capture my attention. And then I found it-Keeper. Brilliantly written in a professional style. This is an example of the contemporary fantasy genre at its finest. Something NEW and DIFFERENT. I'm tired of all the same, old stuff. The main character Tayee is a Drea. She can read minds and is still trying to get her ability under control, and live a normal teenage life. She goes to public school, has lots of friends, and loves life. Her perfect world is shattered when an intruder breaks in and destroys everything. She is forced to leave her guardian-her Kember, the man that raised her from birth-to fight the strange man. The man has amazing abilities like creating fire. This was my favorite scene, too. I could just picture all this fire and all this water gushing around them as Delmari and the strange man battle it out and Taylee makes the painful decesion to leave. Taylee goes on the run to tell the Authority. (The government of Dreas and Kembers.) The Authority tells her that her guardian died and that they are assigning her a new one-Aiden. He's also taking her to a new location, away from all her friends, away from her old life. She vows to get revenge on the man that killed Delmari. The excerpt ended and I wanted more! Taylee is so witty and such a strong female character. The voice and style are AMAZING, fresh and original, marked with humor in just the right places. I never lost interest and was captivated as I continued glued to the screen, dying for more. Yes, it was that good! This is a MUST READ! You will not be disappointed. Tiffany Evans has created a fast paced, thrilling, suspensful, shocking, new and different, and interesting novel. I'm HOOKED. I know this book will make the next round. I just wish I knew what happens!!!!!!! Who killed Delmari and why? I was taken into this unique world with Dreas, Kembers, and Rygons, and now-I'm left hanging! The next chapter, please.... More, more, more!

I think what I liked most about this story was the promise of something original. The dialogue was very good and the story is easy to read. It's a story with a lot of promise, and one I see as competition. I want to read this when you publish it. Good luck.
